Very few clothes are actually Lycra(tm) spandex (exceptions are "foundation" garments and bike shorts, not to mention "fetish" clothing, so I won't mention it).
Even most bike jerseys, although commonly called "Lycra" aren't; they're polyester double knits, just plastic zip neck Tees.
Most Lycra(tm) is used in small amounts in blends with other fibers, to give them a bit of "give." In that mode it's actually a very useful fiber - but people WILL get carried away.
I must admit that I'm loving this 80's fashion resurgence.
ReplyDeleteI love it!

I think we're referring to the textile figuratively. :-)
ReplyDeleteLycra, much like cabbage roses, is a state of mind : )
