come out and play!

Apart from being a super-sunny gorgeous 75 degrees Fahrenheit afternoon, Sunday Streets in Bayview this past weekend was made for cyclists! It was hard for me to believe that I had never been on the Third Street bike lane before, and now, I will most certainly return.

Most of all I was happy to see so many children enjoying the car-free Third Street.

Look at how cool this kid on the chopper is... he's even got a girl on the back seat. Word. (Though I betcha it's his sister.)

And this pretty young thing perched gracefully on her mini dirt bike, taking a bite from her apple - swoon-worthy!

Happiness is as simple as this single white balloon. Car-free streets. Togetherness. Safety. Enjoyment.

And let's not forget the springtime sunshine. I wish Sunday Streets were every weekend.

We went on a bike date on Sunday morning down to Java Beach and back. It was all his idea.

lindy hop

Sunday in the Park - what a cliché, but what a treat.

On Sundays the Park is closed to automobile traffic, and so cyclists and pedestrians get a chance to stop and check out some of the cool goings-on that one might not catch if whizzing by in a car. Like the free Lindy Hop dance party that happens at noon every Sunday near the DeYoung.

My pal Marisol was getting a kick out of all the kicks on the dancefloor.

And so was this tweed-coated woman snapping pics!

I think this little pink bike is a little too little for this lady in the background. What do you think?! ;-)

angels in the sand

Los Angeles, The City of Angels. Nowhere does LA live up to its name better than at the beach, particularly when you're watching the beautiful people roll by on the Venice Boardwalk. What could be more picture perfect, the sun, the blue sky (yes, even in smoggy LA every once in a while), the palm trees, and good looking healthy people spending their afternoon on a beach cruiser.

Vogue-ing in black and white. Sunscreen required.

Who needs clothing when you have clear skies and a bikini?

Or for those a bit more modest--blue coverup, blue cruiser, blue skies.

Promenade with your baby. The sun provides Vitamin D, and the ocean breeze lulls them to sleep.

Here at the waterfront with Angelenos and Angelenas cruising by, you'd never know that cars were sitting in gridlock on the 405 just a couple miles away.

sunday in the park

San Francisco experienced a bit of a heat wave on Sunday, so folks came out in droves, on bicycles and afoot in Golden Gate Park, at Ocean Beach, on the Bridge. In the late afternoon, I got on my bike to meet my date on the other side of the park, a short-ride that once again caused me to reflect on the eclectic style of cyclists in this city.

This cyclist was reminiscent of a pastoral scene.

And how about this woman's fancy red leather boots.

And finally this woman selected some psychedelic shorts with purple socks for her bicycle date.
