And another... riding double!

And Anthony from Velocult snapped a wonderful series of portraits from San Diego's first tweed ride. This one from the ride seemed truly cinematic to me, something from a Truffaut film. So it's my favorite from the series. Take a moment to check out all of the photos from the ride. Spectacular!

Don't Stop Til You Get Enough [Tweed] (pt. 4)

patricia 1
I ran into the lovely Patricia again on the ride, wearing a pretty houndstooth mini-skirt with red tights. Yowza! (I believe that's exactly what Sir Colin was thinking as he was caught sneaking a peek here.)

bloomers smile
If his and hers awards were to be given that night by me, then this lovely bloomer-clad lady definitely would have earned it big time.

bloomers and shoes
And if the bloomers were not enough, get a load of her shoes!

foxy adrienne
Adrienne's got the look and knows how to give one, too.

james smile
Equal time must be given to Adrienne's vested hubby James.

tandem tweed!
Double the Tweed on a tandem!

janelle
And I'll end this series with a woman who epitomized the Vélo Vogue/Cycle Chic trend for me that night. A class act, indeed.

All Caught Up in Tweed (pt. 3)

Some folks had no idea the Tweed Ride was going on...

purple dress 2
and yet just happened to be extremely well dressed!

one big happy family
And others were thrilled to be caught up in the whole mess! Hurray for one big happy cycle family!

scary fingernail!
While the Wicked Witch of the West pointed her scary finger out the window and told us there's no place like the bike lane for cyclists.

We responded to her command with a harmonious round of "Sunshine on my Shoulders."

The Tweed Will Go On (pt. 2)

joe and adrienne
By far my favorite pic of the evening, not just because my friends Adrienne and Joe are seen here looking fine, but more importantly for the snide smirks on both their faces.

argyle skirt lexington
Here's a nice angle on argyle.

penny farthing 1
Um... would someone roll out the red carpet for this chap on his Penny Farthing? In my opinion, the star of the show.

chap with pipe
I think I should have been born a few decades ago, because I wouldn't mind seeing pipe-smoking, tweed-suited men on every corner of SF.

smart suited gal
Another great outfit, and another great bike. The ride will go on...

Tally-ho Tweed! (pt. 1)

P1050947
I finally made it to my first Tweed Ride! Thanks to our stylish and sexy pal Colin for organizing once again!

P1050955
I arrived a tad late, so I missed the show by the Derailleurs, but I found a great slideshow online from the SF Weekly.

tweed group photo
After the show, all the beautiful people got a chance to meet and greet and strike a pose.

red tweed skirt
This was kind of a Vélo Vogue paradise!

argyle skirt gal
Tweed, plaid and argyle never looked so good.

Fine looking people have fine conversations.

let's start the ride
And then, the ride began... more to come!

SF Tweed Ride + Triplettes de Belleville

From the SF Tweed blog:

SF Tweed is pleased to announce the next San Francisco tweed ride! Wednesday September 16th, we will be joining the fine chaps of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition for their Bike-In Movie screening of Triplets of Belleville.

As no tweed outing is proper without a bit of pedaling, we will be meeting up at Dolores Park at the far tennis courts at 18th and Church for a slightly abridged tweed ride at 6:30 pm. From Dolores we will pedal off through the Mission with a quick stop for libations before we arrive at 8 pm for the SFBC Bike-In Movie (Parking lot across from the Good Hotel, 112 Seventh Street, at Mission).

Note, due to the need to get to the movie on time there will be no scheduled BART meet up with East Tweeds. We still would love to see all our East Tweed cousins and encourage all to show up for libations and the movie!

The Bay Area Derailleurs Bicycle Dance Troupe has asked the dapper SF Tweed riders to be extras in a short 10-15 minute filming session with their troupe!

Wednesday, Sept. 16th
6:30 pm — Sally forth from Dolores Park at the far tennis courts at 18th and Church.
7:15 pm — Libations sojourn (location TBA)
7:55 pm — Arrive for Triplets of Belleville Bike-In Movie (Parking lot across from the Good Hotel, 112 Seventh Street, at Mission)

lindy hop

Sunday in the Park - what a cliché, but what a treat.

On Sundays the Park is closed to automobile traffic, and so cyclists and pedestrians get a chance to stop and check out some of the cool goings-on that one might not catch if whizzing by in a car. Like the free Lindy Hop dance party that happens at noon every Sunday near the DeYoung.

My pal Marisol was getting a kick out of all the kicks on the dancefloor.

And so was this tweed-coated woman snapping pics!

I think this little pink bike is a little too little for this lady in the background. What do you think?! ;-)

DFF: Celebrities, pt 1, Tweed!

We also met Colin, the Tweed Ride guy, at the DFF, just about as dapper as they come!

In addition to being kind enough to pose for us, he also shared some critical information: The next Tweed Ride is tomorrow, June 4th, in Oakland.

Here's the plan:
6:30 pm – Sally Forth from Mosswood Park in Oakland
7:00 pm – Meetup with SF Tweed at MacArthur BART
End Point – To be announced.

Tweed!!! (the 2nd)

Better late than never! There is nothing better than a wonderful ride through our wonderful city on the wonder that is the bicycle.

The Ladies were lovely.

The Gents were cool.

Even the rides wore tweed.

Recognizing a good thing, the City put on a special glow just for us.

Thanks to Colin for this wondrous evening. Click here for more information about this and future rides, and here for more pictures.

Tweed on, SF!

Guest Photo: Raymond Barnes in Culver City

Ray's been commuting to his gig at the NFL network in Culver City via his
Nirve (hand made so-cal cruiser). Today he was sporting distressed jeans, a
black Banana republic T paired with an Italian made English tweed Cantarelli
sport jacket, Lambertson boots and "kickstand" shades by Von Zipper. Knock
'me dead, Ray!

same girl, different day, another great look

First of all, bravo to this woman for wearing white pants while riding her bicycle. I should really do like her and get a chainguard! That one bicycle accessory could influence every wardrobe decision I make!

But I really had my eye on her brown leather wedges. I do believe this style of shoe to be one of the easiest and practical for the ladies to ride in style.

And here she is pushing off. A little ode to Mikael at Copenhagen Cycle Chic and his love for this particular moment.

But wait, I recognize those wedges! Here she is again, looking equally fabulous in a tweed hat, blue dress and brown tights!

My angel

I went up to Union Square to get my boyfriend a birthday present. Unfortunately, I had to break up with him before I gave it to him, but, fortunately, I could return it.

I tend to keep my travels in the city limited. The Mission is easy and obvious. Upper Market, SoMa, Hayes Valley, the Panhandle, Castro, Duboce Triangle, and even Civic Center happen regularly. But I almost never trek those extra few blocks to our central shopping district. So, it felt like a big hassle, a big waste of time, to have to go their twice within a week.

This stylish lady turned out to be my angel in little tweed jacket, pink patterned helmet, cute flats and gloves, because even if I had to travel to a strange and distant district twice when I was already suffering, she looked good, and I snapped her photo. So, the errand was saved. Remember that next time you dress for your bicycle and give the broken-hearted a boost by looking extra nice.

skirts of all colors (and patterns)

I love cycling in skirts and dresses, the afternoon breeze giving your hemline a little lift.

A tweed pleated skirt (it's a pity that men don't wear more kilts):

A gorgeous colorful long plaid skirt:

Argyle ain't just for socks!

intello-vélo

This guy has that French café intellectual look with the glasses and tweed cap, and I love the pant leg tucked into the knee high trouser sock. All that's missing, really, is a chainguard. He knows, as do we, that riding a bicycle is the most intelligent (and stylish) choice for transportation! I found it ironic that he's paused here smack dab in front of a Honda dealership that is promoting "Green" cars! He could very well be an advertisement unto himself for a more sustainable lifestyle!

Impeccable, mon ami!
