hangin' in hayes

When the Central Freeway came down, Hayes Green sprung up.
goddess worship
It appears that SFers prefer goddess worship to freeway worship.

This well-loved neighborhood park is also a host to sun worshippers and weekend fair weatherers.
man's best friend

The park is straddled by two bike lanes. So it's a great spot for someone like me to check out the beautiful SF peeps. Bright blue keds!
rad shoes!

Sunday Best for Sunday Streets

The ladies were lookin' good at the most recent Sunday Streets in Bayview.

It's blue on blue for Caz of London Cycle Chic and Shelly of Riding Pretty.

Spring has brought skirts and dresses and bare legs, as well the new line of PUBLIC Bikes, the Orange Mixte seen here.

No need for helmets or hats when you're leisurely cruising in the sunshine. Just let your hair go free and ride on!

come out and play!

Apart from being a super-sunny gorgeous 75 degrees Fahrenheit afternoon, Sunday Streets in Bayview this past weekend was made for cyclists! It was hard for me to believe that I had never been on the Third Street bike lane before, and now, I will most certainly return.

Most of all I was happy to see so many children enjoying the car-free Third Street.

Look at how cool this kid on the chopper is... he's even got a girl on the back seat. Word. (Though I betcha it's his sister.)

And this pretty young thing perched gracefully on her mini dirt bike, taking a bite from her apple - swoon-worthy!

Happiness is as simple as this single white balloon. Car-free streets. Togetherness. Safety. Enjoyment.

And let's not forget the springtime sunshine. I wish Sunday Streets were every weekend.

I'm into these tribute photos lately. Again, this one was purely by accident.

A shout out to our pal in Toronto, Xander N'Dante.

go|green

go green 1
The color green carries so much meaning (especially now in our post-inconvenient world).

Eco. Fresh. Sustainable. Spring.

Universally, Green means Go.

go green 2

The light changes green and we move. Go forward. Go somewhere.

See the light. Wear it, ride it, join the movement and be the change.

pretty pedaling

Everyone loves a pretty girl on a bike!

And isn't she pretty in purple?

Showing off a little lace at the hemline. I love it when seasonal weather allows us to wear gauzy white cotton.

And to coin one of Mikael's favorite terms, here's an SF supermum-to-be in beige sundress on a pretty red beach cruiser.

4.28.2009

it's a bird! it's a plane!

There were all these people stopped looking at someone in the roller derby on Sunday in Golden Gate Park, like this whole family on a pedi-wagon that is available to rent at Stow Lake (the remind me of the Beverly Hillbillies, in a good way)...

and this gorgeous couple.

So when I finally stopped, I realized they were checking out Captain America here doing pirhouettes on roller skates.

4.25.2009

up, up and away!

Eventually you get used to riding up and down hills in SF. When you get to the top of one, it's nice to look down and see how high you've climbed.

And once you've caught your breath, you keep on climbing!

They say the higher the climb, the better the view!

4.20.2009

love at land's end

Unbelievably hot springtime weather brought hordes of San Franciscans out to the westernmost part of the City this weekend. I spent the majority of the day at Lands End with some friends visiting the labyrinth, where we crossed this couple on their bicycles.
