The Return of the Unipiper + Pedal Powered Talk Show

How much do I LOVE Portland?

It's the only city that can proudly claim bragging rights to both the Unipiper AND the world's only Pedal Powered Talk Show! Not to mention Phil and his rad Metrofiets!

So put them all into one cute and short video that also includes goats! Yes, GOATS!

Can't go wrong with a man in a kilt on a uni. Especially one that blows flames.

You win, Portland!

baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and bicycles

Bicycling and baseball go hand-in-hand.

The free valet bike parking at our SF Giants ballpark makes me proud to be American. In fact, SF isn't the only ballpark in the country to offer this perk for biker baseball fans.

It's great to watch all the two-wheeling jersey-clad fans safely leaving their bikes in a secure setting while they get to kick back and watch some good game.

You can even pump your tires... or tire.

It wasn't until I took this pic that I realized that the SFBC's colors are the same as our Giants' (coincidence?).

And this year, we get to root for a super-star pitcher!

Even non-Giants baseball fans can appreciate the beauty of this downtown gem.

Happy 4th! Bicycling and Baseball are All-American!

Weird Vehicles on the VTA Lightrail

Bike fashion is different in San Jose than the City. Bikes are more rugged. You see a lot of mountain bikes with beaucoup de suspension. I ride in San Jose too, and the roads I use are smooth. So, the explanation is either differences in fashion, differences in routes or people are using their bikes for off-road recreational fun as well as commuting.

The following photos support the fashion theory. This guy souped up his regular mountain bike with crazy handlebars, fenders and a purple velvet seat. Yowza. I'm wondering if Elvis is lurking nearby.

Who knew you could commute by unicycle:

I like this photo because it shows the unicycle, a skateboard and the sign about where to put your bike. It goes to show you how resourceful people can be.

singular style

I saw this girl coming out of Burger Joint in the Lower Haight this evening, hopping on her unicycle. San Francisco clearly has its own sense of style, and this girl's ride, in addition to her eclectic wardrobe choices, right down to her day-glo blue sneakers, is a perfect example.

She even did a trick for me.
