"Excuse me, can I take your picture?" or Fully Suitted

Here's another one I chased and hollered down the block for a photo opportunity. Once I got his attention, he was absolutely accommodating. I asked him where he was going on his bike dressed this way: "to work" he answered.

"Where do you work?" I asked.
"The DA's office," he answered, and I looked at him with puzzlement. It wasn't the answer I expected. "District Attorney," he clarified.

Valencia Street keeps surprising me....

Our very own lovely and talented Adrienne Johnson

Adrienne met us last weekend for a glass of wine at the art gallery.

She wore a pink suit jacket with jeans, perfect for Friday night in the Mission, and rode her new dutch bike.

KT didn't have her bike but celebrates well under any condition. (I am represented spiritually by the strawberry cheesecake that KT displays; so, in that sense, this is a photo of us all.)

On the next block, we noticed that Dog Eared Books decorates their storefront with vintage bikes.

folding bike/business man

I saw this guy in full suit and tie snoozing on BART earlier in the year. He struck me as the perfect businessman/commuter. He didn't even loosen his tie before beginning his nap.

Bow Tie en Train

This man is my new favorite person in the world. Not only is he wearing a bow tie while bike-train commuting, but look at that smile!

...Alas, I also see a ring on his hand.

Bicycle Music Festival, part 2

Great bag and dress:

See the blanket on the back of her bike? She's also illustrating the gear you may need for an event like this. A social event of the season:

I don't think this guy was even with the event. Why was he in business clothes on a Sunday afternoon?

You will remember that my first photo of the event was of this magnificent red tiger outfit. Here she's even making music and biking at the same time here.

I wonder if that lovely Russian-style hat is hiding a helmet?

Correspondent GDH submitted these photos a while ago unprocessed and without narrative. They speak for themselves.

Bohemian Carnival

A couple weeks ago, Colleen, Geoff and I went to the Bohemian Carnival. Geoff was the only one of us who had been before, and he'd put on a suit. Colleen and I did our best to dress appropriately.

The next issue was how to get there. We'd been planning to bike before we were 3; so, we had to find a way to make it work. Fortunately, Geoff recently updated his bicycle with big handlebars and a banana seat with space for 2.

Here I am all bewigged and ready for fun:

Suit, Bike, Train

I love riding Caltrain. Sometimes I eat breakfast on the train, and other times, it makes me think of the delicious food I have eaten on it. The conductors sometimes limit the number of bikes onboard, but other times they're ok with it if riders hold their bikes and generally stay out of the way like this commuter.

Another Suit

This guy did not appear to have even bothered to tuck his pant leg before leaving the office. At least, he took off his jacket. Anyway, he sure looked swell waiting for the train in full business wear.

suited for cycling

Appropriately and snazzily dressed for cycling to and from work on Bike-to-Work Day.

Valley Commuter Vogue for Men

When people jump on their bikes to go home still wearing business suits, it makes the statement we seek!

In this second photo, the first guy just has a really cool bike. He's blocking our view of his Brooks saddle. The second guy changed his shoes and jacket but not his suit pants. He's also on a conference call. You can do that driving, but it isn't safe.

Mary in Business Wear

I know Mary from the Bicycle Coalition. She was stopped to take notes on architectural characteristics when I asked if I could take her picture. I explained that I liked her outfit, and she said "Because I look like a business person?" Well, yes, it takes all kinds!

every girl's crazy about...

I had just about convinced the banker I met with for lunch yesterday to commute from Bayview to the Civic Center on a bicycle wearing a suit, when on my way home, I saw this very chic man riding through the Panhandle. So of course I had to speed up to talk to him. I mean, he was wearing what appeared to be a cappuccino silk blazer and striped button down shirt over pressed jeans. A fashion flurry like that would turn any girl's head! But what really caught my eye were the argyle socks. He told me his name was Mike. So Mike pulled off the rolled up pants look with noteworthy sophistication. If you're going to roll up your pants to avoid getting them caught in the chain, why not choose some stylish socks that match the rest of the ensemble! Bravo Vélo Vogue Homme!

joli gentilhomme

This well-dressed man was riding home from work on Tuesday at sunset in Sausalito, wearing a tweed suit and black beret. All he needed was a baguette and a bottle of red wine and I might have followed him home!
