Sol Stylin'

On a not so sunny day, I met Sol coincidentally right in front of Cafe du Soleil, one of my favorite SF hangouts (AWESOME pain au chocolat and a nice selection of wines by the glass). It was right after the Holland v. Brazil game. Though not dolled up in World Cup spirit, Sol was chic'ed out from head-to-toe with an ultra-feminine look. Any cyclist wearing a crinoline under her dress gets extra points - going the extra mile to catch some air as she billows down the block. Very Vogue!

Everyone loves a pretty girl on a bike!

And isn't she pretty in purple?

Showing off a little lace at the hemline. I love it when seasonal weather allows us to wear gauzy white cotton.

And to coin one of Mikael's favorite terms, here's an SF supermum-to-be in beige sundress on a pretty red beach cruiser.

Two radically different flavas!

Here's a gorgeous black and white fixie with an SF localism on the wheel.


And here's a rickshaw that seems to be permanently chained to a parking meter on 24th Street.


I actually would LOVE to see rickshaws in use as part of SF's public transportation system. Can you imagine bicitaxis going up and down Valencia on a Friday night instead of cars parked illegally in the median?

I was riding with my friend Nancy and didn't realize until we were on the Golden Gate Bridge in the sunshine what a perfect vision she was in winter white and black. Truly Velo Vogue. I Iove the black and white Basil bag and her white jacket and black trousers. She turned a Saturday morning ride into a fashion event.

This San Francisco woman showing off as much style and elegance as any parisienne in her smart black and white ensemble and pointy high heeled boots.

In my opinion, however, it is much easier to ride in heels than to walk.

Red /Zebra Stripes

At the 16th Street BART Station, these pals appeared from the elevator. The red hair was striking, and I loved the zebra striped skirt which went beautifully with the white handlebars on her 10-speed.

Dressed to the 9s + footwear

These ladies got all dressed up for the Bike-Away-from-Work party last month. We were pretty excited when we saw them biking in evening wear and got even more so when we saw their footwear. Hurray.

tourist vogue

She was riding one of those tourist rent-a-bikes on the Arguello bike lane; so, I assume she was returning from riding across the Golden Gate Bridge. This fitted cotton-knit black and white striped dress over leggings is a perfect look for cycling en vogue especially in windy places like the bridge because the fabric is flexible enough for comfortable pedaling, but more importantly, you won't have the problem of onlookers being able to see London or France... if ya know what I mean.
