Green Dress

If you do an internet search of "green dress" you realize that the two words mean so much more together than separately. There's Madonna's hairy green dress, Jennifer Aniston's, Kiera Knightly... I could go on. Someone even wrote a poem about a green dress.

John Singer Sargent did a water color called "green dress" that sold for almost half a million dollars in 1999.

John Waterhouse did a green dress painting too.

Finally (at least when I stopped reading), I learned it is a drug reference from the Dallas area popularized by party-crashing drag queens in the 1970s. Who knew a simple item could have so much meaning!

getting the music right

We may disagree on a lot of things. But there's one thing I bet we all agree about: the importance of getting the right tunes on for your afternoon bike ride.

This girl stopped at the side of the panhandle bike path to sort out her music situation before proceeding. I loved her basket, dress, vintage bike, bright color combination and overall poise.

I hope the rest of her afternoon fell together lyrically.

Could she BE more San Francisco?

To be perfectly honest, I'm not quite sure what this young woman is wearing. (Can you help?)

I do know that it looks so perfect, so quintessentially San Francisco, with the short dress (is that a dress or a skirt?), t-shirt, leggings, fixie, brooks saddle, hair cut.... All I know is that she looked so good when she pulled up next to me at a Mission red light that I asked if I could record her look for posterity.

Shiny

This girl looked great in her blue patterned dress, opalescent helmet, and silver shoes.

Knee socks with short brown dress

I loved this woman's look with white knee socks, loafers, and short brown dress. Who knew that would look so good on a bike?

Ride Your Bike

I was searching for images of bike commuters in honor of Bike-to-Work Day when I found this cute photo. She's not a perfect Commuter or a perfect Voguer, but I decided to share none-the-less.

She must have been a plant.

I stepped out the door to see this woman biking past with boots, a short skirt, black jacket and red scarf. I chased her down the street but this was my best shot.

Skirt over jeans again

I admired this commuter for looking totally at ease while also taking it up a notch. She wore a skirt over jeans look we love with cardigan and little jacket.

Couple + Zebra

This was one of my favorite things I've ever seen, but alas the photo came out blurry. I'm posting it anyway.

We were having a leisurely sangria at our local on an amazing Summer Sunday afternoon when this couple, riding together on one bike, rode past. Add to that the retro cool of the guys hat and clothes + the amazing Zebra Striped Dress sported by the lady. I love the Mission.

Errands in the Sun

The weather was amazing at the end of last week, and everyone got out their spring dresses. I shot this rather grainy picture out a car window (gasp). She reminded me of my usual errand running on our main street, Market. Her helmet is also a very hip, shell variety.

Yellow Summer with Baguette

You know I love it when bikes match clothes. I also love it when a person carries a baguette in her messenger bag... and, for that matter, when people bike in skirts. Sigh.

Summer Floral + Feather Boa

I dashed up to the ATM on a beautiful afternoon last week before meeting my friends for happy hour. I don't know where this woman was going, but I bet it was good!

hybrid style

This woman seemingly enjoys combining colors and styles, but hey, fashion is all about expressing your individuality, and if you can do it on two wheels, all the better. She was a like a wave of color on the Page Street bike lane.

On the Way to Potrero

I was biking down to Potrero Hill when I saw this woman, all in black except a hot pink miniskirt and gold-flecked leg warmers over her combat boots. Caz of London recommends leg warmers as the new bicycle clips. I also liked the gold glinting in the spring sun.

Peasant Blouse-Dress

You just never know when inspiration will strike. So, it helps to always be ready.
I was rushing to an appointment when this artful lady in peasant blouse-dress, vest, leggings, and half-boots pulled up along side me. Her bike was nothing special, but I loved the handlebars and front basket she'd added and the way she casually, yet gorgeously, placed her purse in it. I'm rarely quick enough to catch moments like these, but yesterday I did.

crazy pattern

I chased this woman down along the Embarcadero on Saturday afternoon. Once I caught up with her, we had to chase down her boyfriend who was about a block ahead. I loved the crazy pattern on her dress and the matching, totally gorgeous black and blue "milano" frame and wheels. drool!

She said she'd borrowed the bike.
