A Horse Named Seabiscuit
Introducing my nouveau vélo - Seabiscuit.
Even with four bikes, when a beauty like Seabiscuit presented herself to me, I couldn't resist. So I took all the money I had and bought a horse.
Seabiscuit moves like no other bike I've owned. She's fast and furious, but steady as she goes, with all the giddy-up-and-go when you need it most. She's everything I've ever wanted a bike to be, comfortable, smooth, fast and powerful. She has spontaneous energy and takes off with little effort. I feel like I want to gallop into the sunset with her and live happily ever after. But instead, she takes me to romantic destinations.
And she's not afraid to get a little dirty. I tried her out on some trails with loose gravel, and Seabiscuit proved to be a smooth operator.
It's simple - I found a bike that makes me very happy. Seabiscuit is a 2012 Robin Egg Blue Surly Cross Check that I purchased new from High Trails on Polk Street. Lev, Marcel and the guys gave me great service and swapped out many of the bike's components to make Seabiscuit the ride of my life!

Open Your Golden Gates
Q: What do the Golden Gate Bridge and I have in common?
A: We are both San Francisco originals!
So on her 75th Anniversary, my lesser-ridden yet beloved Beurre et Sucre road bike and I paid her a visit to wish her Happy Birthday.
It was a day to remember. A day to share with your family. A day that SFers will be talking about for generations to come.
The Golden Gate Bridge not only connects San Francisco to the North Bay, but it is an iconic landmark that connects us all, a memorable link between visitors and residents alike.
No matter how many times you cross it, whether it's your first or thousandth time, whether by bike, by foot or otherwise, you experience the very same sense of awe each time.
The Golden Gate Bridge is that beautiful.
And smiles are guaranteed every time.
So on the Golden Gate Bridge's 75th Birthday, the heavens gave us a special gift of a golden sunset on a picture perfect evening...
and the City of San Francisco gave an unforgettable party.
The sky opened up over the Golden Gates, aglow with the light of the most incredible fireworks display I've ever witnessed, over and under one of the world's architectural marvels.
Happy Birthday to the Golden Gate Bridge, from one of your own. Can't wait for 100!

fancy footwork!
Here's an experience I will never grow tired of - crossing the Golden Gate Bridge by bike. I've documented my own crossings, but watch how Greg Ciro Tornincasa does it.

Mother Son Adventures of the Golden Gate
A submission from my friend Jennifer Hansen, a.k.a. Stitch Diva as she crosses the Golden Gate with her son for the first time (all words and images by Jennifer Hansen).
Max and I bike at least once a week down here in the South Bay.
Ever since he saw the photos of you and I doing it last year, he's been bugging me to to take him biking over the Golden Gate Bridge.
We did a 10 mile ride from the ferry building in SF to the yacht harbor in Sausalito - we had lunch then we took the ferry back to SF.
Max thought the bridge would be way windier than it was - I think we crossed on a calm day.
We stopped here to take a picture and look down in the water. We saw a school of dolphins swimming under the bridge.

A couple weeks ago, I attended the most incredible performance by the Lyonnaise acrobatic dance troupe A.K.Y.S. at the San Francisco International Arts Festival at Fort Mason. I was so inspired by the performance - a combination of acrobatics, dance and circus arts on the theme of alienation in the workplace - that I had to see it a second time the very next day. I dressed up and le Rouge et Noir took me out on a date. When I got to Fort Mason, the light and scenery were so beautiful that I had to set up a self-timed shot, that I wasn't ready for, but love nonetheless. I'm quite fond of my asymetrical striped tube-top dress that I found at the Goodwill.
After the show, my bike and I caught the sun setting over the Golden Gate Bridge. L'amour à vélo.
We were actually on our way to meet Deep's FlashDance, which turned out to be canceled, so we ended up doing a fun group ride instead. I got to meet some very nice bikey folks for the first time, like Jeremy, Kimberly and Sacha!

winter in SF
After visiting Cycle Chic's recent post about subzero temps in Copenhagen, and hearing the news of blizzards back east, I am guiltlessly enjoying near 90 degree Fahrenheit temps in SF. It's like summer in the middle of January. And what better way to enjoy the heat wave, but to ride to the Park to relax in your bikini with your sweetie. I took this shot two days ago near Hippie Hill.
All I can say to the rest of you is that we are very sorry (sort of).

[Cheryl Brinkman] Nancy in Black and White
I was riding with my friend Nancy and didn't realize until we were on the Golden Gate Bridge in the sunshine what a perfect vision she was in winter white and black. Truly Velo Vogue. I Iove the black and white Basil bag and her white jacket and black trousers. She turned a Saturday morning ride into a fashion event.
