one less car on market street

onelesscar2
This holiday season I am celebrating with many other SFers the awesome changes to our city streets, thanks to the amazing efforts from bike advocates and the cooperation of the powers-that-be!

How refreshing to cruise down several blocks on Market Street without having to fight for space with cars, and hello! Our first separated bike lane!!!

What a way to roll in the holiday season!

glamour girls

Because I was too busy partying and getting ready for today's big Halloween ride and visit from the King, I decided to borrow pics of a couple of my favorite gals on two wheels.

Everybody loves Meli:
Should I stay or should I go?
It's Saturday night & I'm going home.
Sleeping sounded appealing for once.

And introducing Úna, the lovely and intelligent daughter of Adrienne:
Early Chic
Úna decided to go girly today : ) You can't see the gold flowers printed on her helmet.

party bike|party shoes

party bike party shoes
I still have dreams at night about riding around on a little bike like this one. In fact, I saw a couple for sale on Craig's List a couple weeks ago, and considered buying them and fixing them up! But since I don't need any extra projects at the moment, it will suffice to snap photos of other cyclists on what looks to me like a PHUN bike to ride around town!

rouge et noir et blanc

I wonder what's in that overstuffed messenger bag.

How about those shiny red flats! Another stylish cyclist coordinating her look with her ride!

A classic bicycle fashion look: comfy, flowing dress with leggings and flats!

Ramona seems to think that this stylish hipster has my bike's twin - another rouge et noir Motobécane!

What do you think? A little red handlebar tape and we'd have to start singing some Peaches and Herb!

I must admit, I prefer her saddle to mine. And bikes aside, this cyclist's shorts over blue tights with fitted plaid top look totally rocks.

middle of market

Two girlfriends make evening plans in the middle of Market Street. One waits for Muni. The other swiftly hops on her blue vintage bike. Who do you think arrives first?

more rouge et noir

That's my kind of girl! Stunning smile paired with stunning red coat, black tights and red flats. Even the Chrome logo matches. Rouge et noir from head to toe!

panhandle shadows

Long days of summer create long shadows.
Another pair of man flats. Or are they espadrilles?

Shadows crisscross the crosswalk as these cyclists take off!

DFF: Hot chicks

This post continues our description of the magnificent Disposable Film Festival's bike-in movie night with photos of the a few of the lovely ladies in attendance.

This girl's smile made me want to give her a big hug and then take her home to my momma. I also love the pea coat with skinny jeans.

You can go wrong with combining stripes with a floral print, but not this chick. Leggings and cleats are oh so chic.

After we set up, but before the guests began to arrive, we shot each other. Here, KT poses with one of the event's hosts, Emily of the Good Hotel.

Check out her awesome use of red in her flag, bike, boots and skirt....

...and I humbly present myself, shot by KT with my camera:

Bike: REI
Helmet: Nutcase (rocks!)
Sunglasses: Coach
Sweater: Costco
Blouse: Ann Taylor (yes, I came from work.)
Broach: DFF
Skirt: 440 Brannan (a local-designer boutique)
Tights: probably Ross
Body: 100% San Franciscan

More Parisiennes a Velib'

It was summer, and most of these people were probably on vacation. Or maybe it was a weekend. One thing San Francisco has in common with Paris is that people traveling around on bicycles look like they didn't take their travel mode into consideration when they dressed that morning.

These women look like they'd planned a leisurely weekend day around town.

You can see that she's in the middle of telling her boyfriend a story at this stoplight. Note the gold shoes.

[Nancy Kerschen] Ocean Beach

Somedays a bike ride to the beach is all that's needed to cure a rut. This is one I took of a girl at Ocean Beach. This girl looks cute and casual in her green scarf, skinny jeans and basic flats. We don't know what she's looking at, but it looks like she's having a blast.

Green footwear

More from my summer vacation in Paris... This sweet couple grabbed their Velib's and headed off into the busy streets.

I was surprised by the color of her footwear (chartreuse), and I loved that her purse matched combined with all black clothes.

If she decides today's garbs don't suit her, all she has to do is change her shoes and her purse. That's so much less work than when I have a similar crisis. Although it looks like she's doing fine....

Young couple a Velib'

I saw this young couple navigating the intersection at La Bastille. She looks great, but I was particularly impressed with her shoes.

You'll see -- I have a couple other photos of magnificently-colored footwear worn in Paris last summer. As you know, last year's fashion in Paris is next year's fashion in the states. I'm just saying....

preppy panhandler

The end of the day on a bright Sunday afternoon, cyclists return home from spending the day in the park, like this classy, preppy lady, carrying what appeared to be a Louis Vitton purse over her shoulder, and the perfectly paired step-through frame to match her elegant style.

2.10.2009

vélo tubby

SFers are indeed inventive, using all sorts of household items in artistic and handy ways! Shining example, this pretty woman's use of a shiny aluminum wash tub for a rear basket. It's got me thinking about the very visible inventiveness of our city's cyclists, and wondering when our city's officials will open their eyes and see how simple solutions - just like this washtub - could make our rides so much more convenient and fun.

Vogue Mamma

I shot this woman once before, but I don't remember when. I love repeat impressers!

She reminds of Elle Macpherson.

12.07.2008

be bold

What's not to love about this look? Fishnet stockings are always sexy, but pink fishnets are something else! Eye-catching indeed! This color combination deserves an award of some kind - pinks, reds and blues, not to mention the fantastic gold rack and handlebars! Bold colors make a bold statement!

plaid pants and cute flats

This couple of cyclists were chatting all along their morning commute, reminding me how fun it is to ride with friends. Her plaid pants tucked in with ankle clip present another great VV look. And how about those fancy flats?!

Très chic, très vogue!
