People always ask me how I ride in my cowboy boots.
I always tell them it can't be much more difficult than riding a horse with them.

Peace, Love & Freedom

It's what we are constantly in pursuit of - our whole lives - and what inspires us to stand up and fight, collectively.

As I commute to and from work, I am joined by more and more men and women who represent my beliefs - that we should be able to safely ride our city streets without fear of losing our lives, where our city makes appropriate, designated space for us. Where we can be free to move. In peace.
One can argue that it's what our democracy represents.

So don't forget to vote on Tuesday. Do some research. Find out what candidates represent us. The candidates that stand up for what we believe. If you live in SF, and need some guidance, the SF Bike Coalition has made its endorsements.
[This post by no means endorses any particular candidate. I am in fact undecided as of this writing. But I am a dedicated voter that doesn't take my freedom for granted.]

My own bike wardrobe remix

In the spirit of Bike Wardrobe Remix I figured I would showcase this look from the Bike Expo fashion show next seeing as half the items are from my wardrobe:)
Miss Kati is looking ever so sassy in:
re-purposed B. Spoke Tailor Knickers. They are created from thrift store wool pants and redesigned for cycling with an added gusset, side cell phone pocket and knee tabs. These are a great option for someone on a tight budget AND you can have them custom made for you!
She is wearing a super visible yellow Rickshaw bag
A silver sparkle Nutcase helmet (which I now own and love)
The cowboy boots, Nooworks butterfly bicycle man T-shirt , and scarf are from my closet.
She is riding a really beautiful Klara bike available at My Dutch Bikes.

the shoe is part of the outfit!
The best thing about rolling up a pant leg and getting on your bike is that you get to show off your shoes.

And socks! (When was the last time someone noticed your cute argyle socks?)

F would be for Fluevog.

Whatever your footwear fancy, be sure to flaunt it!

Isn't She(ena) Lovely?
Meet Sheena.

I was having lunch with an old friend of mine from my Grenoble days at La Boulange de Hayes Valley when this stunning woman whizzed by, a blur of elegance on a 10-speed in a very chic neighborhood. Luckily, she was finishing up shopping when I finished lunch and I had the chance to tell her how lovely she looks in a long pleated plaid skirt, gorgeous grey sweater with puffy sleeves and ankle high brown cowboy boots.
She has style. She has grace. She is Very. Vélo. Vogue.

Tour de Fat... a little late
Tour de Fat was last summer. So, I'm grossly en retard as KT would say. It's the end of the year, and I have a few days off work which gives me time to go through photos of the year. Lots of people say "Better late than never." At least, I have that going for me! I'm not never. Consider this a "year in review" post (among others).
This girl was adorable in her green with green bike and purple tights.

This guy with old fashioned bicycle needs no commentary.

Yay bikes. Yay pink. Yay cowboy boots.

Loved the mini-skirt and the socks.

I caught this lady post-fat texting a friend while waiting for another using the facilities on the panhandle which, incidentally, I don't recommend.

[busbozo] Cowboy Boots Are Great for Bikes

She pulled up right after I had already parked my bike. Her boots were really similar to mine, and we both have curly hair. I tried to get her attention, maybe take a picture together, but she was distracted. Oh well.

more pandhandle vogue

Like this woman, but unlike many of the cyclists we blog, I stop riding to talk on my phone. I loved her boots, coat, hat and skirt. It was an overcast Friday afternoon, and the panhandle is my favorite park in San Francisco because of all the old trees.

Davis Vogue
Occasionally, I am forced to leave my beloved San Francisco. Usually it's a family obligation. Davis has world-class biking facilities; so, it's not surprising that I saw this woman in long skirt, cowboy boots and yellow top waiting at a stop light as we left town.

bicycle bags
This girl's hot pink Bell helmet and shoulder bag with floral design caught my eye...

when all of a sudden this gentlemanly cyclist in business attire pulled up right next to her with his sleek and shiny brown messenger bag.

I'm quite partial to small handbags myself, and so this lady with her Native American inspired leather purse impressed me too--cowboy boots to match--as she pushed into the intersection. Nice lace trim on her skirt too.

Revolution!
Another beautiful day in the Mission, and beautiful women with Che Guevara shoulder bags are too fast for my camera.

I was also impressed with her all-in-black skirt, sunglasses, and cowboy boots look. We are each our own kind of revolutionary.

(GDH) Bicycle Music Festival
I spotted this guy at the Bicycle Music Festival. If you're going to look the part, make sure the bike matches.

This is Eco from the The Ginger Ninjas (a band that get around the country by bicycle.) The Extracycle makes bringing the dog along a lot easier.

Collared shirt, sensible shorts and a nice leather shoulder bag. Presentable and practical.

Flops, nice shirt, matching trousers and a tall bike. What more can I say?

I saw this couple in the park when the father was putting the helmet on his daughter. The seat rigged into the basket makes for good dual purpose use. He rode that bike, his partner was just holding it for him.

She: Strappy shoes, red dress.
He: Comfortable shoes, shorts.
It was only after I took the photo that I noticed they had matching bike frames.

You shouldn't let a helmet get in the way of fashion. This guy was relaxing in the park in his weekend ensemble. But he didn't forget to bring along his hat for when he was done riding.

P.S. Lilia has more photos of this event forthcoming.
