You & I - for your viewing pleasure

I love stop motion animation.

I love that this stop motion animation film starts with a cute hipster couple taking a ride on a tandem bicycle.

I love that they end up in Paris and the guy's got the killer t-shirt to show for it.

I love the simple DIY nature of this film.

young at heart

How does it feel to be young?

P1100894

Carefree. Spontaneous. Flirtatious. Ambitious. Gutsy. Invincible.

We take risks because we can afford to make mistakes.

We throw caution to the wind because we have nothing to lose.

We follow every whim because we have the time.

In every interaction, there is so much possibility.

Venice Beach Vogue

I will be making my semi-annual trip to LA in March, and as a preview, I offer you these fine gems from my last visit.

My old roommate Banne and his gorgeous wife Annette.

Little surfer girl. (Could there be an image that better typifies Venice Beach?)
P1060119

Cruising with the tunes.
P1060115

Picture perfect! Sunny day at the beach, palm trees, pretty girls cruising and shirtless men rolling along.

LA can be kinda cool.

What else would you like to add about cycling in style in the city
that really knows how [to cycle]

Riding in Portland in style is relatively easy, for the simple fact that riding in Portland is relatively easy. There's really no reason to need special gear or equipment for riding around town. Be comfortable and enjoy your ride. There are also more and more shops around town offering practical bikes that allow you to easily ride in any kind of clothing, so you can just hop on and go, whenever. It's a beautiful city, and it's really enjoyable to experience by bicycle.

Hello!!

Hello there! I would like to introduce myself- you have seen me referenced on this blog as "Busbozo". My given name is Adrienne (thank God, because Busbozo would be very difficult to get a job with .) This is me:

I can not tell you how happy and honored I am to have this opportunity to share with you my love of San Francisco and the people who choose to traverse it under their own power. There is no one group or type of bicycle I like the best, but my heart is with the parents who get out every day, with their kids in tow, riding the streets and showing what can be done if we just try.

Here's to having fun on a bike in this beautiful city of ours! Now, as I say to my husband before we leave on our bikes "Come on, Baby! Let's ride!".

all that glitters in Golden Gate Park

I can't think of a more appropriate outfit for cycling than a sparkly blue and black lamé sundress!

She's even got some sexy black stockings on!

Maybe dressed to impress the cute boy she's with.

love at land's end

Unbelievably hot springtime weather brought hordes of San Franciscans out to the westernmost part of the City this weekend. I spent the majority of the day at Lands End with some friends visiting the labyrinth, where we crossed this couple on their bicycles.

vélo valentine

In honor of Valentine's Day, let us honor not only those couples who cycle together, like this hip tattooed pair scanning the roller disco scene on a recent Sunday in Golden Gate Park, but also all those who love cycling in the city, in the country, in normal street clothes, in fashionable clothes. Writing these posts make me love riding my bike more, and I hope that, in reading them, you do, too.

breezing the embarcadero

The lovely bay views beckon cyclists to San Francisco's Embarcadero most weekends.

Taking a moment to take it all in:

Couples bike and dress alike! (Nice shiny gold flats.)

In this man's case, I think the jersey is more of a fashion statement than a racing accessory, paired with his baggies and flip flops, long hair flowing in the breeze.

I love cycling in The City!

(GDH) Bicycle Music Festival

I spotted this guy at the Bicycle Music Festival. If you're going to look the part, make sure the bike matches.

This is Eco from the The Ginger Ninjas (a band that get around the country by bicycle.) The Extracycle makes bringing the dog along a lot easier.

Collared shirt, sensible shorts and a nice leather shoulder bag. Presentable and practical.

Flops, nice shirt, matching trousers and a tall bike. What more can I say?

I saw this couple in the park when the father was putting the helmet on his daughter. The seat rigged into the basket makes for good dual purpose use. He rode that bike, his partner was just holding it for him.

She: Strappy shoes, red dress.
He: Comfortable shoes, shorts.
It was only after I took the photo that I noticed they had matching bike frames.

You shouldn't let a helmet get in the way of fashion. This guy was relaxing in the park in his weekend ensemble. But he didn't forget to bring along his hat for when he was done riding.

P.S. Lilia has more photos of this event forthcoming.

VV couple: Brian and Susan

I know Brian from the carfree movement. Then he hooked up with this totally awesome chick, Susan. Brian is a Press Secretary for a large environmental non-profit. Susan teaches chaplains at a large hospital. I've heard Brian say that her job is to love people on the worst day of their lives (when loved ones are in the hospital, for example). They live in Oakland, carfree by choice. Here they are leaving the WOBO party:

As you can see, they are both rather dapper, coming from work. Susan is in a snazzy professional purple skirt, heels and carrying a briefcase. Brian sports a button-down shirt even on a Friday. I know they spend all the money they save not owning a car on fabulous vacations, tho, not clothes. You'd never know.

This dapper couple was on the BART train late Saturday night.
